My Dad Is Back Home

Well today was back to the real world...real world meaning work ofcourse. Weekend was pretty uneventful. Friday I spent most of the day with my mom at the hospital and then that evening I spent with Kason and Shaun. We ordered pizza for dinner and after Kason went to bed we decided to rent Twilight..must say it was a great movie.

Saturday morning Kason actually slept until 8:20 am. After breakfast him and Shaun went to Lowe's and Shaw's Building Supplies and I just did somethings around the house. Me and Shaun did manage to get my closet organizer installed and then later that evening Kason had his picture made with live bunnies. Even though he didn't smile very much in the pictures he was truly amazed with the bunnies. He kept poking at them and trying to stick his finger in there mouth. I was just hoping he wasn't going to get bit. I still think the pictures turned out pretty well. That night we just hung out at the house and Shaun cooked steak and chicken kabobs on the grill.

Sunday ofcourse we went to church and then me, Shaun, Kason, Mackenzie and Mikah all went to Mexican for lunch. I dropped them off back at the house and I went to visit with my dad and mom at the hospital. It was so great to see my dad even though he is alittle slow moving right now he sounded and looked really good. When I got home I came home to a house full of kids. Mackenzie had gotten home from the mall, Kason and Mikah were playing in the den, Shaun had cooked dinner and Mackayla and her boyfriend came over. The evening was spent pretty much in different areas of the house.

And well today it was back to work. My mom called around 10 am and said they were on there way home from the hospital. I know my dad and mom are happy to be back at the house and plus my dad finally got to wash his hair. Ofcourse the last 2 nights Kason has woke up anywhere from 12 to 2 and cried off and on for 2 hours. Last night was the finally straw for me because I don't do well without sleep especially when he woke up this morning again at 6 am crying again. I had noticed he had been pulling at his little boy part so I was beginning to wonder if he had a UTI. So I did what most moms would do and called the doctor. Ofcourse she said she wanted Dr. Walley to see him so I called his daddy to see if he could meet me up there with him at 4:00 pm so I didn't have to leave work any earlier. After describing his symptoms and showing him a few areas of concern...he swab his booty area and yes we have what is called Perianal Streptococcal Dermatitis. What might Perianal Streptococcal Dermatitis be you might ask ??? Well its the same strep you get in your throat but its around his anal hole. Dr. Walley thought it might just be a yeast infection but decided to swab it anyways just to check. He said he has only seen 3 cases but knowing Kason it wouldn't surprise him if it was positive. Who knew you could get anal strep. That just doesn't even sound good and Dr. Walley said it can be very painful and itchy....so I guess this explains the not so good last couple of nights we have had. He sent us home with amoxicillin and said this should do the trick. All I can say is only Kason. Needless to say he is going to stay with his Granny Linda tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Pictures Shaun took with my Nikon camera...not a digital camera exposure film but it takes great pictures.

Update on my dad

My dad is doing as well as expected and is in great spirits. We were finally able to see him last night around 5:45pm after surgery. You know its not a state you want to see your daddy in but I must say he looked nothing like I had thought he would. His coloring was really great and he wasn't very swollen. When we went back for the 9:00 pm visit he was starting to come around and respond just alittle but still had the breathing tube in. Me and my mom stayed in the hospital hotel last night and was able to keep a check on him all through the night. Mom called the nurse around 11pm and they said it wouldn't be long before they took out the tube. Finally I think around 11:45pm the tube came around and he was able to talk to mom. Dad told her it made him sick when they pulled the tube out because he felt like it was 12ft long but as my dad would say PRAISE THE LORD that part was over with. She checked on him again around 4:30 am and they said he was doing well, resting and was able to swallow a pill. Mom ofcourse was up early this morning hoping to see him before 9am visitation but ofcourse that didn't happen and in fact it was actually 10 am before we got to see him because they had an emergency in the ICU so no one was able to go back. Finally when we saw him it was such a relief. He was able to carry on a conversation and was even able to tell us what today was..FRIDAY!!! Just before we went back they had taken the tubes out of his stomach and he said it was extremely painful. He said he wanted to come off the bed but he figured that would be more painful than this. When we went back for the 11 am visit he was sitting up alittle bit more and we were finally able to see his 10 inch cut down his chest...OUCH!!!! :( We are hoping the 2 chest hairs that my dad has might help cover up the scar...lol Afterwards me and mom went and grab us a bit for lunch in the hospital cafe and then waited again for the 1pm visit. When we got back to the waiting area my sister was finally able to make it for the next visitation. When we went back to see him they had already moved him to the step down unit and he was sitting in a recliner. Ofcourse you could see the pain was alittle more intense at the moment because they had just sat him up and moved him for the first time since the surgery. He has a red heart shape pillow that he holds onto to help with the pressure and pain and I sure will become his favorite piece over the next couple of weeks. I finally left the hospital around 1:45 pm because I couldn't wait to be able to see Kason. He has been staying with his dad since Tuesday night which has been really hard on me...but I knew what needed to be done and I didn't want to leave my mom by herself.

As I sat there and watched my mom have to tell her husband/bestfriend of 36 years good bye before surgery and then when she had to see him for the first time after surgery it was a very painful moment. I have no idea what it feels like to love someone as much as they do each other and I hope one day I will be able to experience the same strong love and have the same type of relationship that my parents have with each other. In this world many of times we take the ones we love for granted and we don't really realize how much we love someone until it could be taken away from us. I know how I felt the day my marriage ended and in away it was like reliving it all over again but in a different way. As I stood there and watched my mom hold his hand after surgery and praise God for keeping his hand on him I couldn't help but think about my life over the last year and half. My Uncle calls them Frick and Frank because you don't see one without the other and I think that's the best way to describe my parents.

Please continue to keep my dad as well as my mom in your prayers. The next couple of days are probably going to be the hardest on him and hopefully within 4 to 5 days he will be able to go back home.

Thanks to everyone who lifted my family up in prayers yesterday.

Prayers Needed For My Dad

I know I am alittle behind on schedule updated my blog..but with being at the beach all weekend, Monday out with Kason due to a viral infections and now today my dad is back in the hospital with yet another round of chest pain.

My mom had to carry him back last night around 11:30pm and after all night and most of the day we finally got to see his cardiologists around 3:00pm. The plan is to do an arteriogram first thing in the morning at 7 am. The reason for the delay is because he was given blood thinner in the ER so if they did the arteriogram today if he had a clot it would have been broken from the thinner. Dr. Cavender thinks he needs to be monitored through the night and be taken off the blood thinner. If there was a clot it will form again by morning and it should show up on the arteriogram. So at this point we really know nothing. My mom was able to get a room in the hospital hotel and my dad is in ICU. Please just keep my parents especially my dad in your prayers.

As far as the beach trip we had a great time and I have alot of pictures to uploaded when I get a moment to go through all them.

Project For The Weekend

So me and Shaun were determined...well okay maybe I was alittle more than him to get Mackenzie's room finished this weekend. We have had the furniture a couple of weeks and I got the bedspread last weekend..but I wanted to add some finishing touches to the decorating. We also completely redid her closet and put new closet doors up. Ofcourse since my house was built in 1964 the closet doors had to be trimmed alittle and needless to say that project didn't end until 1 am this morning....But I must say all the hard work has paid off and I am very pleased with the room. Hopefully she will like it as well.
